He started playing the seprewa instrument at the age of twelve after he was taught by his grand father in 1979, and has been playing the instrument over 30 years now. He use to play the instrument in churches and traditional festivals until 1995 when he came to the International Center for African Music and Dance (ICAMD) at the University of Ghana through Dr. Amponsah popularly Known as Agya Koo Nimo. He was employed at the Center as an instructor and demonstrator and has been working at the University of Ghana since then. He was the assistant leader of Hewale sounds and has composed several songs for them. He has had the opportunity to travel outside Ghana to demonstrate his musical talent. Some of his journeys include going to South Africa, Cote D’voire(Abidjan), Norway (Fjiord festival),Swaziland among others. He has also been to workshops at the University of Magdeburg, Humboldt University, Free University among others. He has the experience so far as traditional music is concerned. He has decided to set up a foundation to teach young children to play the instrument in order to preserve the Ghanaian culture and also to fulfill his long- term dream.
